THE IN-BETWEEN GENERATION: These Melrose youngsters -- the 1938 class of St. Mary's Elementary School -- were born during the boomtime of the roaring twenties, lived through the Crash of '29, the years of the Great Depression, and were about to enter yet another calamitous period, World War II.
