Ice cream social this Sunday
On Sunday, March 7 the Melrose Centennial Commit-tee is scheduled to host a Family Victorian Sundae Social from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Memorial Hall.
There will be games and crafts from the Victorian era provided by the Melrose schools. Posters from the "My Favorite Place in Melrose" will
be on display and the winners of the contest announced.
Entertainment will be ongoing throughout the afternoon.
Admission is free. Sundaes cost $2.50 each.
Handmade crafts at centennial event.
The Melrose Arts and Crafts Society is scheduled to participate in the Melrose Centennial Celebration on Sunday, March 7.
From 1 to 5 p.m. members will staff a table at the Victorian Family Ice Cream Social. Handmade crafts will be displayed.
Demonstrations of crafts practiced 100 years ago will be shown.
Project Teddy Bear will also be featured. The handmade Bears will be donated to the Melrose Police Dept. Officers then will give the Bears to children when answering distress calls.
Upcoming eventS for city centennial
The following is a partial list of other events plarmed to cele-brate the city's 100th year as a city.
Sunday, May 16, 1 p.m.,
Centennial Celebration Parade - the largest parade in the city's history is planned down Main Street, with 25 bands and elaborate floats decorated by local organizations.
Sunday Sept 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 19th Annual Victorian Fair.
Main Street in ther downtown business district is closed to traffic as hundreds of visitors view goods and services from local merchants. Also features entertainment. MMW coverage.
