Three Chickens and a  Barn Door

... painting by Gail Wright

Virginia Hanley

This water color painting was lent to the Melrose Mirror by the artist, Gail Wright, who is a member of Bill Kadlec's art class at the Milano Senior Center.  She has been painting for 40 years, starting with oil, then trying acrylic, and finally moving to water colors in recent years.

She has exhibited her paintings in various galleries and had one person shows at the American Mutual Insurance Company and the Beebe School, both in Wakefield. She had won several ribbons.
Subjects of interest to her are old barns, landscapes, covered bridges, and lighthouses. She is also attracted to unusual lighting, stone walls, and changes of seasons. She has painted the Coast Guard training ship, Eagle, in full sail, as well as the schooner, Flying Cloud. She has occasionally done studies of cats and dogs, and produced a cardinal in the full glory of his red feathers that was very well received.
