HURRICANE! Thoughts About the '38 Hurricane

... about the boy who saved the kitty ...

Kay McCarte

I don't remember too much about it - I remember the high winds and rain and we lost some trees in the backyard.

But when I think about it I think of my cousin who was out in the storm doing his paper route. Trees were falling and it was pouring and there in the midst of all of this was a poor little shivering kitten.

He picked up the kitten, stuffed it into the front of his jacket and ran home.

His mother was prepared with a large towel for a very wet little boy. When he  opened the door she took one whiff, handed him the towel, told him to take off his clothes, wrap up in the towel and leave his clothes and the skunk outside.
