... Volunteers brighten up lobby and entrance area
|
Ann Casey and Jim Driscoll, members of the Melrose High School Beautification Committee, thank Mr. Richard Cravotta, cabinet-making instructor, and students from the Northeast Regional Vocational School for the beautiful 20-foot by 8-foot oak art display case, which they built for the lobby of Melrose High School. The glass for the locked art display case was generously provided by The Melrose Glass Company. The students also built a matching oak base for the athletic trophy case which also stands in the MHS lobby. The cases for the lobby are the culmination of a three-year plan by the Beautification Committee to improve the appearance of the high school entrance and lobby. Those efforts have included three volunteer painting parties, landscaping the front entrance and planting 33 trees, painting a 2000 year time line mural on the walls of the cafetorium, a Student Activity mosaic and an air brush mural on the windows of the computer room, sponsored by the Melrose Arts Council. The generosity of the Melrose community made it all possible and the response is most appreciated.
