A word of caution -- you may want to pass it on...
Unless you want to take a chance on loosing all use of your peripherals and most of your programs that work with earlier MS products, DO NOT upgrade to XP. Editor's note: Brian updated his computer and had the new operating program, Microsoft Windows XP, installed, replacing Windows ME. He soon discovered that such peripherals as his joystick, scanner, and printer, and several programs, were not compatible with the new system. He later switched back to the old operating system. I also bought Windows XP but mine was on a new computer. I too discovered what Brian found, but now I have both the old computer (Windows 98) and the new one in operation, side by side. I also bought the networking paraphernalia, which I cannot get to work. And so each week I check the Microsoft update for new equipment for the XP -- although I am getting used to working two computers now. Don Norris. b_simm@gsinet.net drnorris@gis.net May 3, 2002
