Volunteer Appreciation Program

On May 23, 2002 the Milano Senior Center had a Volunteer Appreciation Program.

Jack Beckley, who is the Director of the Council of Aging, was Master of Ceremonies.
He thanked all the volunteers who came to the appreciation day for all their efforts and work done on behalf of the Milano Senior Center.

Jack Beckley presented a clock to Leonard Gebhard, who is on the Council of Aging Board, for his 17 years of service.

Mayor Robert J. Dolan was introduced, and he spoke about the wonderful work that the Milano Center has done.

Ruth Harcovitz provided the entertainment. Miss Harcovitz is a soprano who trained in Italy and sang music written by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein. She was accompanied by Mr. Herman White on the piano.

She sang selection from South Pacific, Oklahoma, and The King & I. She selected.members of the audience to dance with her when she sang "Shall we Dance" from The King & I. She then asked John Averell, a member of the Silver Stringers to be with her when she sang "Honey Bun".

Refreshments were prepared by the Northeast Metropolitan Regional School students, and roses, donated by Ralph's Florist were given to each volunteer.

The volunteers then assembled for a picture.
