Rust bucket
  brings back

the SilverStringers

NO STORY, just memories. Most of us used cars like this to learn how to drive, back in the '30s. Opinion offers that this fine old car is or was a 1939 or '40 Oldsmobile, but we're not sure, even of the make. No doubt the car has been sitting in this farmer's lot for over a quarter century, for even the chrome brand-name trim has rusted beyond deciphering. It had a bent-stick floor shift, bench seats, and a left-side pull-up emergency brake -- as well as nests from various recent occupants. We found it in Dunstable, Massachusetts, about 35 miles northwest of Melrose. -- photo by Don Norris
