Chirac, President of France didn't want to support the United States in the Iraqi war. The French people had rallies to protest, but three weeks into the war Chirac calls President Bush on the phone and states that France wants to be part of the reconstruction of Iraq.
Spare me! The United States forces are in Iraq looking for chemical and biological weapons, but did anyone know that there are warehouses full of chemical weapons in Russia? Spare me! Don't the Iraqi people know that we went into their country to rid them of Saddam Hussein's cruel regime? We went into Iraq because of the chemical and biological weapons. Maybe they do, but after four weeks of freedom, they now say to the allied forces, "GET OUT". Spare me! How about Bechtel National Inc. given a contract from our government for $680 million to help rebuild postwar Iraq. How did they get it? Do we people here in Boston, Mass. forget the Big Dig? The estimated cost at the start was $2.5 billion, it is now $14.6 billion and rising. Spare me! Why should Cooperstown (Baseball Hall of Fame) rescind the invitation to Tim Robbins to participate in the 15th anniversary of Bull Durham. Are they afraid he was going to spout anti-war statements? They used the Bill of Rights to spout their statement but Tim was denied the same right. Isn't this still the United States of America, with its right to free speech? Spare me! I don't have the answers, only the questions! May 2, 2003
