The bare facts

by Russ Priestley

Civil unions or same sex vows
Seem to be what the law allows.
How ridiculous! How uncouth!
That a Marjorie can marry a Ruth,
Or a Harold and his mate Chester
Can make vows as flimsy as polyester.

If this stupid idea should permeate
Our society, then who will procreate?
Adoptable children will be all gone,
So how do we multiply from then on?

One man, one woman in close communion
Must get together to form a union.
If I get more explicit here, I will be
On the brink of exceeding propriety.
