Christmas, when I was a child, was very exciting because I looked forward to Santa Claus (I still believed) coming to my house and filling my stocking with all sorts of goodies. There was never a doll or a toy, but I always had an abundance of fruit and at the bottom of my stocking I would find money. I was thrilled to find coin there. I was the last of seven children and my father became ill when I was two years old. As a result of papa being in and out of the hospital for ten years, mama went to work in a candy factory making the bows for the candy boxes. Money was tight, but there was never a scarcity of food and love.
