Neighbors, relatives rally

... Love and support in the holiday season

from Jim Driscoll

Christmas 2005 was the first year without my wife Barbara, who passed away on January 5, 2005. It was a  long-time practice for us to host a family party on Christmas Eve. After giving it some thought, I decided to go ahead and have the gathering this year - with a little help from the children and their spouses.

As it turned out, I'm glad we went through with it; the turnout was great - about 40 people including many neighbors showed up. During the evening I brought out some family photos that Barbara maintained through the years. They turned out to be a great hit.
