Progress -- Making room for more Melrosians

from the SilverStringers

The Fidelity housing project entered the construction stage this winter, and had established its first complex by mid-February. The area will run along Main Street, opposite Pine Banks Park, north to Goodyear Avenue. Former residents of that property were an outfit called Transitron, a sixties brick apartment complex that was razed, Highland Television (which was founded shortly after World War II) and a gas station on the corner of Goodyear. For this view the photographer is standing across the line in Malden, in the parking lot of the veterinary hospital, looking north; the smokestack of the old rubber factory complex can be seen to the left.
