Prayer for the brave

from Claire Ann Boyd

Editor's note: During a brief stay in the hospital, I became friendly with a nurse's aid of 26 years by the name of Claire Ann Boyd. She wrote this poem to honor her son. Master Sgt. Kenneth Boyd who had served a tour of duty in Iraq, Desert Storm, and HomeLand Defense. Ella Letterie

Military families one and all
The one you love has answered the call
They serve this great country with courage and pride
Obstacles? Never! They will over-ride
From baby to toddler, a teen now adult
You nurtured, protected and watched them no doubt
Your baby - a soldier, be proud and stand tall
Support them and love them and give them your all
We pray for their safety be it land sea or air
If it's homeland their serving or way over there
We pray for the families whose sons made it home
To the Heavens with Angels and God at His Throne
We pray for the families now living in pain
For their son's and their daughters's great memories remain
We pray for the soldiers who took their last flight
For they bravely surrendered and followed the light
We pray for the soldiers still over there
For all true Americans really do care
Military families one and all
The one you love has answered the call

I dedicate this to all Veterans
Who bravely serve
or who have served
our
Great Country
