Jim Milano gets a straight dose of volleyball

... at age 97, our former mayor experiences his first game

from the SilverStringers

That's Lyla Brickley, greeting long-time Melrose Mayor Jim Milano, who was celebrating his 97th birthday that week. And since the Lady Raiders from Melrose High were in the playoffs, he thought it was about time for he had never seen a volleyball game before. Lyla is one of a large number of supporters of the local team -- and aunt to Number 25, Hannah, who can be seen warming up at the right. Melrose won the first two prelims, handily, but fell to the powerhouse from Arlington Catholic -- who in turn lost to another greater powerhouse, Medfield. Of special note is the fact that Hannah, a freshman, was in the starting lineup for the Lady Raiders.
