Christine Grant
She is always there for her family, there for her friends and there for other people in need. Christine Grant, who grew up as Christine Faiello from East Boston, has lived all her adult life in Melrose, raising her four children on her own, becoming a professional hair stylist and running her own business. Christine, who loves to cook, taught cooking and cake decorating classes for years and at a time, when women were new to sole proprietorship, Christine opened her own beauty salon, over 30 years ago, and has kept pricing close to her original rates so that her services would remain affordable to her many customers, mostly seniors, who have become her lifelong friends. Her customers often remark after a cut, color or perm, that Christine has made them feel young again, working wonders doing a beautiful job with their hair. Year after year. Christine would go out with scissors and curlers in hand, ready to style hair for those who had become homebound, bedridden or resided in assisted living. If asked Christine would tell you she is not doing anything special, that she is just living her life and loves being with family and friends. Whether young or old, she says she learns something new from the different people she meets every day. Christine is a king and loving person who all of her friends and family adore. She continues to provide loving guidance and support to her four grown children and wherever she goes, she always meets someone she knows, has a smile and story to share, especially when they are down. I am proud to have Christine as a mother-in-law and can confidently say that she is a remarkable woman, mother and friend. Christine truly is a Melrose senior who is blessed with many talents, who continually gives of herself to others and deserves to be recognized for her generosity of heart and spirit.
