I came upon a pond one day

from Sheila Kelly

I came upon a pond one day,
all dirty and full of debris.
"How can Man allow such waste?" I asked.
Just then a little frog popped up and said,
"Look at me, am I not a living thing?"
"Why did you destroy my home?" he asked.
"It is a need," I said "because of man's greed."
"What is greed?" he asked.
"Greed is when human beings have a need
To own and control all the earth." I answered.
"Oh! how sad," said the little frog.
"If only man could see the beauty God gave us
He would not destroy our destiny.
We together own this earth, man and beast.
It is free, a gift that no man can own."
