Fanueil Hall market in horse and wagon days

... family slides turn up historical note

From the SilverStringer files

This fading, old fashioned color slide came to light recently, providing a lesson in history. Judging from the relatively modern car in the foreground, we believe the photo was taken in 1954, at Fanueil Hall Market Place -- when it really was a market. Note the horse and wagon parked next to the new car. Could it be that goods were being delivered in Boston, by horse and wagon, as late as the 1950's? Well, here's the proof. Also note that the original Durgin Park restaurant, on the second floor above the horse, was as popular then as it is today.
