Katherine Clark, Melrose activist, mother of four, school committee member and attorney, stormed over the competition in the race to replace Michael Festa as the State Representative from the 16th district. There was a time, several decades ago, when Melrose was a bastion of Republican support. Times change, and we now have elected not only another Democrat, but a female to boot. Festa, in the meantime, will head Department for Elder Affairs.
