... thoughts while sitting in the Logan Express waiting room

by Ann Robbins Talbot

I have heard that every journey begins with one step.

Which step is that?

The first step to the travel agent’s office to look at brochures and get prices to compare?
The first step back to the office to make reservations and buy tickets?
The first step to the mall to fill in the holes in your wardrobe?
The first step toward your closet to begin the incredible job of packing?
The first step out the front door, luggage in hand, hoping all will be well in your absence?
The first step over the threshold of the airplane?
The first step onto the soil of your destination?

Perhaps, to a less concrete thinker, “every journey begins with one step" is a metaphor.

It is reassuring that the little steps you are presently taking may be the beginning of something big –
a big project, a big adventure, a new career,
a whole new life with a new partner leaving behind everything you have known.

Or are you at a stage in life where little first steps will lead to other little steps and that is okay with you?

Each step should be taken with caution.  Who knows if it is a FIRST step taking you to whatever the destination might be?  Step out with care.
