Gory Halloween

by Grace Allspach

A parody to be sung to the tune 'Glory Hallelujah'

My Eyes

My eyes have seen the gory of the coming of the ghouls.
I have seen them in the dark of night, out breaking all the rules;
Loosing all their groans and moans, their eerie ghostly sounds
Chains and bones clank-ratttling on.
Gory, gory Halloween
Gory, gory Halloween
Gory, gory Halloween
Chains and bones clank-rattling on.

If you see a big black cat, a witch will soon appear,
Riding on a broomstick, looking for you and me, I fear.
To chant her incantations, on her magic words, oh dear.
Abracadabra – BOO!
Gory, gory Halloween
Gory, gory Halloween
Gory, gory Halloween
Abracadabra – BOO!

In all the haunted houses and the graveyards dark and cold,
All the ghosts and goblins gather, or at least that’s what I’m told.
To plot and plan All Hallows Eve, their game of trick or treat
To play on you and me.
Trick or treat on Halloween
Trick or treat on Halloween
Trick or treat on Halloween
To play on you and me.

On October thirty-first when ‘ere the sun goes down,
The little monsters come to life in every part of town,
Banging doors and ringing bells with empty sacks to fill.
Be there to do your part, singing
Happy, happy Halloween
Happy, happy Halloween
Happy, happy Halloween
To children everywhere!
