... Park Commission approves $90 thousand bid on October 27.
|
The main function room and adjacent lounge area at the Mount Hood Clubhouse which are now rented for social gatherings, wedding receptions, dances and other community meetings will have air conditioning installed for the summer season.
The Park Commission announced its selection from the bids from three vendors. Mercury Mechanical Services, Inc. was the winner with a $90,990 bid. The project will involve modifying existing gas-fired furnaces to accommodate a cooling system as well as the installation of wall-mounted cooling systems for the large function room. Neither of the rooms are expected to be closed during the installation. The addition of air conditioning should improve considerably to the appeal of the function room and lounge area for gatherings held during the hot summer months. Rental of the function room has had a meaningful effect on Mount Hood revenues. When the facility is available to include the summer months it is expected to produce 11% of all revenues. Total revenue for the Mount Hood operation is expected to exceed over $2 million again this year. The function room is expected to accommodate over 100 social functions during the 2009 season. The Park Commission is required to spend at least $50,000 each year for capital improvements to the golf course and its adjacent facilities. On completion of the air-conditioning project, money spent on the capital improvements will exceed $700,000 over the last seven years. November 6, 2009
