Thoughts while shaving

Jim Tierney

Does Murphy's Law follow you around? Murphy's Law is "anything that can go wrong will go wrong." Many of us think the Law was written just for us. . . . No matter what doesn't go our way on any given day is blamed on Murphy. Nobody's day is perfect but we dwell on the negative of the day, not the positive; i.e., getting stuck in traffic, an event cancelled, a headache, an argument, a reprimand from the boss, etc.

Let me introduce you to O'Brien's Law (I made it up). "No matter how bad your day goes, it can always be worse." You can die, a close family member can die, you could go blind, you can be homeless, you can live in earthquake ravaged countries and on and on. There are many things that can be so much worse for you than the simple "inconveniences" that get you upset. So, the next time you're stuck in traffic, count your blessings.
