As the wise old owl says, "Whoo's whoo at the Halloween Bash?"

... Thousands of children -- and parents --fill downtown for the CofC freebie

photos from Don Norris

Words don't fit the occasion. Everybody was happy, the kids, their parents, and probably the members of the Melrose Chamber of Commerce who gave away seemingly thousands of candy bars and trinkets. It was a fun-filled happening, the city blocked off Main Street between Upham and Grove -- and it was especially fun for the photographer who just went click, click, click all afternoon-long.

Some witches come with a million dollar smile ...

An obvious case of split personality (for Halloween), and a boy in a box ...

Thoughtful young adults ...

Beautiful at left, and a masked marvel leading an elderly lady ...

Umm, possible Presidential material, some day.

The sly look, and a flying superguy with his superdog ...

Two witches sharing an offspring ...

Important people. Inquisitive, for sure ...

Observant young people ...

Getting tired of all this halloweening, obviously ...

Ah ha! Parents are having a better time than the kids ...

Three young ladies, struggling to smile ...

Ah! Angels! ...

These are children dressed up as adults ...

These are adults masquerading as really young folk ...

Oh, oh! A repeat! Where's the proof reader?

These boys should have bought Halloween masks ...

Kinda hard to tell what's going on here ...

Three more beauties, trying to smile for the photog ...

Look here, Mr. Mayor, my street is just teeming with potholes ...

Note from the photog: I took some 300 photos of lovely and frighteningly-scary children (and parents) during two hours, and it was a delightful time. I also spent a couple of days editing all that material -- there are so many neat pictures that we've got to save some for the next issue of the Mirror. My cup runneth over -- to the December issue.
