Nature's artistry brightens local hills

... a different view of things

from Don Norris

Local phenom -- Our home on Spear Street sits on an outcrop of rock some 200
feet above sea level -- or about 150 feet above the Melrose valley. To the west
is a parallel ridge called The Fells, which in late afternoon, puts the valley
into a deep shadow. As the sun touches the horizon of the Fells -- ducking
under whatever storm clouds there may be -- there is a sudden blast of warm,
orange light spread on our Spear Street ridge. And the picture above is our
neighbors back yard. Wondrous light.
