... short summary of my road trip from Melrose to Ellisville, Mississippi --
a continuation of my life as a retiree, and new beginnings
April 12, 2011 I packed up my car and headed south to Mississippi and my retirement to southern, warmer and hopefully greener pastures. I bid so long to friends and family in Massachusetts. I will be back to visit because I left behind many friends, my daughters and grandchildren.
Many of you remember me as one of "The Three Musketeers." I enjoyed all the dinners and parties and the people. Almost three years ago, I met Michael Robinson. He is a warm and fun-loving person, we share many common interests, family, grandchildren, the beach and travel. Michael is originally from the South, born in Mississippi and spent most of his adult life in Texas. He located to New England for two years. We spent most of those two years getting to know each other, he met my family and friends. I gave him a tour of New England.
Last Spring, we traveled to my daughter's in Virginia, spent months with her, and
visited my sister, Madeline in New Jersey. We also went to Mississippi and
I met all his family. He gave me the tour of Mississippi. We enjoyed a three day mini vacation in San Antonio, Texas and he gave me a tour of Houston and the hills of Texas. It was during this trip that we decided to spend the rest of our lives
In the Fall, we again went to New Jersey, Virginia and Mississippi, we celebrated
Christmas and New Year's with my daughter in Virginia. Back to New England for a
month and then Michael went south to Mississippi, he had a new grandbaby due April
12th. He drove his truck. One week later, I followed in my car with our dog,
Bandit and most of my personal belongings.
I gave almost all my furniture to my granddaughter, Ashley.
My car trunk was full, my backseat was crammed full and my bike on the rack, rear
of car. I was in the driver seat and Bandit in the passenger seat, I nicknamed him
"My navigator". Off we drove into the sunset, spent the first night with my daughter, Linda in Ashby, Massachusetts then drove to New Jersey, spent a night with my sister, Madeline. We then drove to Virginia and spent four days in Virginia with my daughter, Lora, waited for tornadoes to pass and then on to Mississippi.
Had a nice Easter in Mississippi with Michael and family, new granddaughter, Deliah was born right on time, April 12, 2011. Mom, baby and grandparents are all fine. Tornadoes blew all around us, never touching this family, just wanted all my Melrose friends to have an update on my adventures and remember we are never too old to begin again.
