Melrose's own magic fall colors

... Mirror editor captures changing colors in his back yard

by Don Norris

On a sunny day in mid-October ...

I took my camera to our back yard,

overlooking the valley called Melrose, below.

All within some 15 steps, I captured the changing colors ...

There is something special about a New England fall, where cold nights and warm days put a lustre on nature's fruit ...

and turns our New England world into a blaze of color.

It is sheer magic, we feel, a gift before the glistening white snow arrives.

... magically it happens year after year after year. New England is a beautiful place.
