There used to be a high oberservation tower in the Middlesex Reservation that my dad took me to quite
often (60 or so years ago). I think it was called the Lawrence Tower. However in doing a Google search
I can find no mention of it.

Do you know anything about this tower?

Thanks,

Ted Barrett

Hi Ted:

I'm Steve Johnson, one of the Melrose Mirror stringers. I now live in Arizona but grew up in Melrose. I
was born in 1937. In the late 1940s, all of us kids did a lot of exploring in the woods west of Melrose
on foot and on our bikes. One of the places we discovered was the Lawrence Observatory in the Middlesex
Fells Reservation. I actually have a few photographs of the tower when my friend Frankie Cahoon and I
spent an afternoon there. My pictures are in an old album around here somewhere and I'll have to go
look for them. Give me a day or two to dig them up and I'll e-mail them to you. I promise!

Regards,

Steve Johnson
