My pocketbook

by Carol Nelson

I have noticed lately that the lady's handbag can accomodate a small dog. It is DESIGNED and fabulous and costs a living fortune.
I think I am out of style.

My pocketbook is faded.
A receptacle..like me.
It is serviceable and organized,
Containing keys and necessary I.D.
Malleable, practical,
It holds communication.. always needing energy.
It makes no statement and adds no drama.
It is a metaphor for me.
