Fascination --sketching the Rowe's complex

... while going through old sketchbooks ...

from Don Norris

In the March issue of the Mirror, I submitted for publication a photo I had taken of the Rowe Quarry complex in Saugus.

A week later, I was clearing out my work room when I came across one of my old sketchbooks -- in use in the '70s and '80s.

And so (now that that beautiful area has been converted to rather monotonous apartments) I offer a fresh look at the old place. The sketch itself is smeared with pencil lead, snudged all over, and time has turned the pages to a light brownish-yellow. Some of that aging has been removed for this current portrait.
