Defining Melrose:

... Some things never change, some always change

from the SilverStringers

I noticed recently that downtown looks pretty much the same as it did when we first moved here some 65 years ago. But Mrs. Jones' shop is gone, both major banks are now something else. The Buick, Chrysler, Pontiac and Ford dealerships are now somewhere else. The Melrose Theater where we all went to see a movie, is gone, replaced by a bank. Actually, nothing remains the same, everything - the whole world - is continually changing. Hopefully for the better. Yet the city continues to perform its duty -- to provide a comely, warm, lovely, safe place to live. We are unique.
