New blue view of Boston

... from far, far away ...

from Don Norris

At the left is Quincy and the South Shore; at the right is the Salem
peninsula, and in the middle, from some 40 miles away, is Boston. The shot
was taken from Rocky Neck, Gloucester. The haze and the distance made the
scene difficult to see, but a telephoto lens improved things, and, finally,
manipulating the flick in Adobe Photoshop did the trick -- and turning
distance into a colorful blue and the Atlantic Ocean yellow. Ooo, ooo, do you
know that the horizon of earth is 11 miles away, so therefore we are looking
at the skyscrapers of Boston several floors up? And that the tops of those
buildings are farther away than the bottoms?
