This has been my Place

... and has been for 45 years

by Shirley Rabb

It is dark outside at 9pm. The sun and temperature have gone down.

With the yard light on I can see the birch trees bending towards the east, where the sun rises every day.

The lake is frozen and snow covered. The beach and yard glisten in the light. There are no tracks tonight, human or animal.

Today, in the sunshine, the blue jays, chickadees and goldfinches occupied the feeders. Flying back and forth from the feeders to the trees. Nothing else moved in the eight degree temperature.

The tranquility of the view filled my soul with peace.

Tonight, after dinner with a friend, I am enjoying "my place". This has been my day to relax and rejuvenate. This "place" has never failed me; Never!
