Milano Birthday party

... And it was 20 years

by Shirley Rabb

It was a party to celebrate life at the Milano Center; twenty years of service to
the seniors of Melrose.

There were displays of the programs available at the center. There were tours
of the center and demonstrations of some of the programs. There were
refreshments and door prizes and a feeling of accomplishment for having come so far.

On any given day you can play bingo, scrabble,or bridge. You can see
movies, have hearing screening or use the lending library. Dancing, photography, chair
yoga and chair caning are on the schedule weekly.

There is notary service, social worker's assistance and tax assistance all
available at the Center for seniors.

Lunches are available daily for $2.00 and on Tuesday evening a free dinner
where all are welcome.

You can learn to do Swedish weaving, line dancing or join the Melrose Mirror
to write articles on line.

It was a party to celebrate all of us; to be proud of the Milano Center for what
it is and for what it has achieved over these past 20 years. It was a time to look
back and to look into the future because we are just getting started.

Thanks go out to Dawn Folopoulos, the Executive Director and Georgie Lewis
the Center's coordinator, and all the volunteers for putting this party together for
all the seniors of Melrose.
