Enchanted Village

... trip back in time

Excitement crawled up my spine. It was magical, my great granddaughter's hand in mine as we oohed and aahed at the Christmas scenes before us.

For the first time since its restoration in 2009, I was at the Enchanted Village at Jordan's Furniture in Avon, MA. I hadn't been to this exhibit since I took my own children to its previous location on the fifth floor at Jordan Marsh in Boston during the 70's.

The exhibit opened in 1958 when the owner of Jordan Marsh hired a Bavarian toy maker to create the scenes and people them with lifelike figures. There were eighteen scenes and fifty-nine mechanical figures. They didn't all survive over the years but some of those that did are shown below.  







 



The last picture is my granddaughter Jayylin and grandson Shane enjoying a rest after the show.
