Thoughts While Shaving

by Jim Tierney

The older we get, the easier it is to keep up with the Kardashians than trying to keep up with technology. Many seniors don’t have computers and probably STILL only have their manual Smith Corona typewriters and their land telephone to communicate but are finding it more difficult every day to respond to the attractive ads they are constantly bombarded with. If they send a letter or phone a number they wait weeks to get an answer to their snail mail or they get put on hold and must press several numbers trying to get a live person. It gets even more difficult for them when they get responses like “fax it to me”, “go to my website”, “email, twitter, text me”, etc. What’s a senior to do these days? Some have the advantage of a 12 year old grandson/granddaughter who come by occasionally to “teach” Grandpa/Grandma the new technology. Remember the “olden days” when it was just the opposite? The grandkids came to visit Nana and Grandpa to learn from THEM and to get spoiled by them.
