Art show, once again, at Memorial Hall

... Stringers' Don Norris captures a zillion

from Don Norris

There were over forty artists at this year's "Melrose Art Show" at Memorial Hall, on the
last weekend of April. It was spectacular in all sorts of art media, ranging from
traditional paintings to jewelry, to sketching, to some really radical trades --
including a carpenter with a flair for traditional beauty.

I spent a couple of hours there on Saturday, but discovered that most of the
artists were out-of-towners. Years ago when the Melrose group originated this show at
Memorial Hall, it was limited to local artists -- and 'artists' meaning fine arts
painters. But it was, still, a really good show where viewers were encouraged to take
part.

Over all, the show rates an A-plus.
