Dennis Quan is a Research Staff Member at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in 2003. He also holds an MS in Computer Science, a BS in Chemistry, and a BS in Mathematics from MIT.

As an undergraduate researcher for Walter Bender at the MIT Media Laboratory in 1997, Dennis designed and implemented the Pluto system, the electronic publication server powering the Melrose Mirror, the Junior Journal, and other Silver Stringers web sites.

His research interests include information visualization, knowledge management, the Semantic Web, and bioinformatics. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, studying foreign languages, and playing the piano.
