I was born in 1924 in the Roxbury section of Boston. About eight months after graduating from Roxbury Memorial High School I was drafted on April 7, 1943. After Basic Training I was assigned to Battery B of the 29th Field Artillery Battalion of the Fourth Infantry Division.

We sailed for Liverpool, England shortly after that and arrived on January 7, 1944. After rigorous training we were assigned the objective of landing on and securing Utah Beach on D-day, June 6, 1944. I fought with my unit in five major campaigns until VE day. I received an honorable discharge in October, 1945 about two weeks short of my 21st birthday.

I earned a B.S. in business administration from Boston University and after graduation I held positions in retailing and market research until my retirement 13 years ago. My wife, Edith and I purchased our Melrose home in 1962 and have been active in community life in our city during the years of our residence.
