Born in Cambridge 5/11/28…St. Mary’s Grammar School, Rindge Technical High School (before it became Cambridge Rindge and Latin), graduate of Northeastern University…worked at First National Stores, Metallic Arts sheet metal shop, and then 44 years at John Hancock Life Insurance Company as Director of Field Administration, before retiring in 1991.

Served in the 26th Division, Massachusetts National Guard from 1946 to 1955. Discharged from Guard as a First Sergeant E-7 in the 101st Infantry. Although at Camp Drum, New York, for summer training when the Korean War broke out in 1950, the 26th Yankee Division was not activated, but the 25th and 27th Divisions were activated.

Married to Barbara Rogers in 1955…lived in Cambridge, Everett, and settled in Melrose in 1963…had 6 children, Jim Jr., Susan, Mary Ann, Kathleen, Carol, and Barbie, and 13 grandchildren...ran the St Mary’s Melrose CCD program (public school children) while his children went to St. Mary’s School...Hobbies include writing, chair caning and stained glass.
