I retired at age 62, after working for most of my life in the construction trades Apprenticed as a cabinet-maker back home in Scotland as a young man.

Here in the States, I, at first, knocked about at various jobs. Eventually I joined the council of carpenters union. Some years later I started a small building construction company. I worked hard at this until retirement in 1990.

We moved to Melrose in 1964. Buying an old Victorian two-family house, needing much work of course. We soon enough realized that "retirement" was not just a word. Here at the Melrose Senior Center, there are many activities to be enjoyed. Writing is one of many things I have enjoyed here.
